My dryer has finally died. RIP dear dryer. Yesterday, while doing laundry, I "cooked" a small load of socks and t shirts for over TWO HOURS. The clothing was still a tad damp when I removed it, but before I damaged the clothing I decided to just air dry it the rest of the way! I decided it is time. It has outlived it's life span. Time for dryer heaven. And my gas bill can breathe a sigh of relief!
Let me tell you it's story. It was here when we bought the house. I thought, wow, that nice older couple is leaving me a washer and dryer. We were newly married and it was our first house. How special. How wrong I was to think that. It seems they did not "need it" any longer and I quickly figured out why. It sucked. It was some cheap make, and in the case of appliances, you get what you paid for. I paid nothing, so what did I get?? Exactly. Quickly, the washer was transported OUT of the door and a fine Maytag was settled in it's place. The dryer, well, I could "live with it". I don't dry many things anyway. I am a firm believer in the air dry. Not only is it economical, and doesn't ruin your clothing but enviromentally concious as well. Cest la vie.
So I have lived with the sucky dryer the past 7 years or so. And I have managed to get by, until now. I will be hitting up appliance store shortly and hopefully getting a snappy new model!! It will be going from a Model T to a Lexus!! Oh and there will be pictures (if you don't mind looking at my unfinished basement). I can't wait. Ok, now you know my dirty little secret (or is that clean little secret??), I like to do laundry!!!
